Foyle's War Episode 1

Detective Foyle investigates a local murder in Hastings as the arrival of American troops creates new tensions.

In mid-1940, Britain prepared for a German invasion along its southern coast. Over 1.5 million citizens joined the Local Defence Volunteers to guard key infrastructure. This mobilization freed regular army divisions to rebuild after Dunkirk, while the government imported surplus American rifles to replace makeshift civilian weaponry.
