In Harm's Way

A naval officer seeks to redeem his career after Pearl Harbor by taking command of a task force in the Pacific.

In late 1941, Pacific fleet operations depended on mobile logistics to sustain long-range campaigns. The American Navy developed underway replenishment to transfer fuel, ammunition, and dry provisions while moving at sea. This logistical innovation allowed combat fleets to bypass distant bases and strike deep into enemy territory.
