The Zookeeper's Wife

Warsaw Zoo enclosures become secret hiding places for hundreds of Jewish refugees during the occupation.

By 1942, the German occupation of Warsaw forced over 400,000 Jews into a walled ghetto. In response, the Polish underground established a secret rescue network that forged thousands of identity documents. This clandestine network smuggled escapees past checkpoints, providing safe houses that saved thousands of lives.
